Janelle was born and raised in Northern California. She attended the University of California at San Diego, graduating with a bachelor’s in History. She spent the next several years continuing to work in traditional education and EdTech, including four years teaching English in South Korea and China. In her most recent role as a regional manager at iD Tech, she was a council member overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and training for all things diversity, equity, and inclusion-related. Her experiences at UC San Diego and in EdTech helped hone her skills for creating compassionate people-centered solutions to inequalities within the tech world.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing with her two cats, and trying new forms of artistic expression.
