Community Spotlight: Emmanuel Ahishakiye
Celebrating 2024-2025 Fellow Emmanuel Ahishakiye! Emmanuel grew up in Rwanda and moved to the US to study at the University of Rochester. Emmanuel is a highly intentional, goal-oriented Computer Science and Business major. He enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and finds joy in creating new technological possibilities.
Emmanuel loves connecting with people and building community. As he shared, “I am passionate about talking to different people and understanding their culture. I love talking about politics and about tech, of course, and hearing other people’s insights. Connecting with different people shapes who I am today.”
Emmanuel grew up wanting to be involved in tech, and studied CS in high school. As a startup founder of Jackal Tech, Emmanuel brings curiosity and drive into his work, “I love that with CS, we can create things that have never existed before! I’m always inspired by the results, and motivated to create impactful technologies that can contribute to big change.” Emmanuel is, “driven every day by the desire to provide scalable solutions focused on the community and using creativity to help my community rise.”
Emmanuel is passionate about creating access and opportunities for everyone, “I believe anybody can change the world, but that means bridging the gap, specifically for the Black community. I always wanted a place to connect with people with the same passion as me, and that’s Code2040.”
To prospective Fellows Emmanuel offers, “These are great people who you will be able to reach out to, say, ‘I’m struggling with this,’ book a meeting, and get support. You are going to learn a lot, you’re going to think a lot, and you will realize you are not alone. Code2040 is a group of people who share passion, a mission, and the desire to make an impact in the community. Code2040 is a space to find a team, to share stories, to share opportunities. Achievements happen when you have a team.”
Thanks for being part of our community, Emmanuel!
